Artist Alwyn Crawshaw

All members of the National Acrylic Painters Association are mourning the passing of our honorary President artist and teacher Alwyn Crawshaw.

I personally had a short correspondence with him when I started to work with Acrylic after finding his book explaining how to paint with the medium. I loved his style and subjects and so starting my long journey with Acrylic.

I met Alwayn and his wife June at the very first exhibition of the SAA in Westminster in 1995 where I had entered a couple of paintings. I came back with my catalogue that he had kindly signed for me. I still got it… and of course he was President of our Association.

To resume, Alwayn Crawshaw was a very accomplished artist, so enthusiastic, helping all artists, beginners and professionals. He wrote many books, made TV series. Most artists of my age must have known him. Inspirational, kind, simply in love with Art.
